Lingayen reviews CRM Plan
LINGAYEN–The boundaries of water zones will soon be easily established with the review of the Coastal Resource Management (CRM) Plan of the municipality of Lingayen completed last July 19 at the municipal planning and development office.
Mayor Ernesto “Jonas” C. Castañeda and Councilor Edith Hallare led representatives from various agencies during the review that highlighted the importance of the CRM plan in identifying the boundaries of water use zones.
“We are serious in our effort to protect the coastal waters of our municipality,” Castañeda said.
Castañeda also expressed his gratitude to the various government agencies for their concerted efforts in gathering data and consolidating the CRM plan of the town, the capital of Pangasinan.
The CRM Plan is intended to ensure the sustainable management and efficient utilization of the municipality’s coastal and fishery resources through the active involvement of empowered local government units, coastal communities and stakeholders.
It is also designed to address concerns such as the decline of fish catch, destruction of critical habitats and riverine areas, illegal fishing, water pollution, siltation and lack of alternative livelihood, among others.
Among those who joined the review included Municipal Administrator Polo Baltazar; Municipal Legal Officer lawyer Nepthalie Pasiliao; Municipal Planning and Dev’t Coordinator Bernard Tomelden; Chief of Police P/Supt. Rodolfo Lomibao; Agriculture Technologist Charito Fernandez; Josephine Pagar, Department of Environment and Natural Resources-RegionI; Aida Magante, provincial planning and development office; Rey Gonzales, office of the provincial agriculture (Opag); Police Insp. Marilou Mendoza Reyes; Zenaida Ugaban, Opag; and Sotero Aban of the Pangasinan State University.
