Kapitana, 3 kagawad nabbed for violation of physical distancing, curfew

A barangay chairwoman, three councilmen and there others were nabbed for violation of physical distancing, curfew and related laws during a wedding party in Barangay Pampano, Mangatarem town dawn Thursday.

Arrested were Barangay Captain Soledad Fernandez, 59; Barangay Kagawad (Councilmen) Marilyn Mackay, 41 and Tito Vejano, 63,  all residents of Pampano;  Barangay Kagawad Mercelina Cayabyab, 53, of Bedania; Manuel Corpuz , 54; Sammy Domingo, 52 , both from Pampano and Marlon Sabares , 49, of Barangay Dorongan Valerio, all from the town.

The police received a telephone call from a concerned citizen about an ongoing wedding party in the area.

When the police arrived, they saw several individuals dancing and scattered at the said party. The apprehended violators simply watched the raid while others ran to avoid arrest.

Aside from physical distancing and curfew based on a provincial ordinance, those nabbed also reportedly violated Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code that punishes unjustifiable disobedience of lawful orders of Persons in Authority or their Agents and Republic Act 11469 or the Bayanihan To Heal As One Act.
