Inter-regional buses resume before Mar. 28
PANGASINAN TO NCR VIA BOCAUE
INTER-regional bus transport’s point to point (P2P)operations from selected towns and cities in Pangasinan to Bocaue, Bulacan, a jump off point to Metro Manila, may soon be available before March 28 this year.
Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Regional Director Nasrudin Talipasan gave the assurance citing the ongoing processing of the letter requests of bus operators that were endorsed by Governor Amado Espino III.
Talipasan said the date of resumption will be posted on social media as soon as the LTFRB national board gives the go signal for the resumption of inter-regional bus operations from Pangasinan.
Under the P2P scheme, no passengers will be picked and dropped off along the way but there will be a common stop over point that will be designated but only to allow drivers, conductors and their passengers to answer the call of nature.
He said inter-regional operations from Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte via Bocaue in Bulacan have already started with a bus stop over in Sison town.
From the grand terminal in Bocaue to Pangasinan, buses can only unload passengers at their respective terminals in Pangasinan.
Asked by Vice Governor Mark Lambino if Dagupan will also be benefited, Talipasan responded in the affirmative since Gov. Espino had expressed interest in making the city included in the P2P scheme.
Being considered as terminals for the inter-regional operations aside from Dagupan are Lingayen, San Carlos City, Tayug, Anda, San Manuel, Alaminos City and Bolinao.
The bus operators that applied to resume inter-regional operations are Five Star Bus, Victory Liner and First Luzon Transit. But this does not preclude Dagupan Bus and Solid North that own fleet of buses with terminals in Dagupan City.
He said the Land Transportation Office (LTO) is already testing road worthiness of the buses with updated LTO registration.
According to Talipasan, all bus terminals must have triages for boarding passengers and all health and safety protocols must be maintained inside the buses.
Meanwhile, Talipasan said until cash-less transaction system is in place, passengers will continue to buy tickets at the bus terminal before boarding. (Leonardo Micua)
