LGU – Pangasinan gears up for COVID-19 vaccination in the province

“PATULOY nating inaayos ang preparation para sa vaccination roll-out natin na gaganapin sa probinsya ng Pangasinan.”
This was stated by Pangasinan Provincial Health Officer Anna Ma. Teresa De Guzman as she bared that the Provincial Government of Pangasinan is currently preparing, under the directives of Governor Amado I. Espino III, for the upcoming COVID-19 vaccination in Pangasinan.
Dr. De Guzman also mentioned that the definite date of vaccination in the province will be upon the decision of the national government.
“Ang araw na gugugulin natin sa pag-babakuna ay nakadepende sa pagdating ng bakuna galing sa national government. Tayo ay naghahanda nang sa ganoon ay kapag dumating ang mga bakunang ito ay agaran po nating maipamigay,” said the provincial health office.
The Province of Pangasinan also submitted an initial list of eligible targets or the Priority Eligible Group A for the vaccination with a total number of 1,089,004 individuals in the province.
The Priority Eligible Group A are as follows: 1. Frontline Health Workers which include workers from public and private health facilities, public health workers and LGU contact tracers, barangay health workers, and other non-government agencies such as the DSWD, DEPED, DILG, BJMP and Bureau of Corrections; 2. indigent senior citizens; 3. Remaining senior citizens; 4. Remaining indigent population; 5. Uniformed personnel including PNP, AFP, PCG, BFP and CAFGU.
In-line with the preparation, the Provincial Government of Pangasinan is following the preparedness tool from the Department of Health which evaluates the readiness of the health centers in the province.
Orientation and workshops for concerned agencies were also conducted for the past three weeks. The series of orientation and workshop were attended by chiefs of hospital, chief nurses, municipal and city health officers and public health nurses, health promotion officers, and AEFI (adverse event following immunization) responders.
Consultative meetings are also held to tabulate the vaccination micro-plans of the local government units in the province including vaccination sites and logistic support.
“Patuloy itong capability building natin at the same time, tayo din ay nagkaroon na ng consultative meetings with our district supervisors para i-tabulate na natin ang mga micro-plans ng ating mga local partners,” said Dr. De Guzman.
Continuous campaign for the demand generation for the vaccination in the community is also steered by the Provincial Government to assure the safety of the COVID-19 vaccine.
“Ligtas at effective po ang bakuna natin COVID-19. Kailangan po natin ito as an additional protection para masugpo ang pandemya na ito,” said Dr. De Guzman.
Meanwhile, the provincial health office called for continuous cooperation as the number of COVID-19 active cases in the province is decreasing. Dr. de Guzman also reiterated that the minimum health protocols should still be followed by Pangasinenses.
“Patuloy na bumababa ang cases natin sa Pangasinan dito sa ginagawa nating monitoring. Inaasahan na ngayon ay naisaloob na natin ang minimum public health standards natin tulad ng paggamit ng mask at shield, physical distancing, at paghuhugas ng kamay, ” Dr. De Guzman stated./PJES
