Inter-regional bus operations assured
WITH ENDORSEMENT FROM LTFRB-R1
THE endorsement letter of Gov. Amado Espino III of the requests of three bus companies to resume inter-regional operations has been favorably endorsed by the region’s Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) office to the LTFRB central office in Quezon City.
This was confirmed by LTFRB Region-1 Director Nasrudin Talipasan in a radio interview last week amid clamor of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and mayors of towns for the immediate re-opening of the inter-regional bus operations in Pangasinan.
“…Na-endorse na natin ito sa Central Office dahil inter-regional ang jurisdiction ng request. Positively, ayon sa data ng central office ay nakapag-apply na ang mga transport operators sa mga ruta na binuksan,” said Talipasan said.
What is not known is why the LTFRB central office has not responded to the region’s endorsement, Talipasan is confident that the request will be acted on favorably anytime soon.
Gov. Espino’s December 29, 2020 letter to the LTFRB Region 1 for the reopening of inter-regional bus operations in the province even cited recommendations to be imposed on bus companies once they resume operations.
Specifically, the governor recommended: 1) point-to-point travel system; 2) provision of thermal scanning; 3) strictly observe health protocols (provision of alcohol dispensers and other sanitation devices); 4) physical distancing; 5) installation of semi-permeable barriers; 6) periodic RT-PCR for drivers, conductors and dispatchers; 7) mandatory wearing of face shields and face masks for bus passengers and personnel.
Additionally, the provincial government suggested that an online system be adopted for submission of health declaration forms and which data are to be submitted at exit/entry points of the border checkpoints of the province.
Gov. Espino endorsed the resumption of the following routes 1) Five Star Bus: Bolinao to Quezon City; Bolinao to Pasay City; Anda to Balintawak, Quezon City; Agno to Balintawak, Quezon City; Tayug to Quezon City and San Carlos City to Quezon City; 2) Victory Liner: Lingayen to Quezon City, Alaminos City to Cubao, Quezon City; 3) First Luzon Transit- San Carlos City to Balintawak, Quezon City; San Manuel to Balintawak, Quezon City; Urbiztondo to Balintawak, Quezon City.
Dagupan City is not included in the request being an independent component city of Pangasinan. (PIO)
