COVID-19 cases plummet
AS SUMMER SEASON NEARS
THE number of Pangasinan’s active COVID-19 cases continue to decline with only 338 new confirmed cases recorded as of February 11, down from 587 a week earlier.
This was contained in the province-wide monitoring conducted by the Provincial Health Office (PHO), a record acknowledged by the national Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Infectious Diseases (IATF) as one of the lowest in the country today.
The new 229 cases recorded (from February 5 to 11) has raised the number of COVID-19 cases in Pangasinan to 4,597 with 4,006 recovered while 138 had died since the start of the pandemic in March last year.
The PHO deems the situation as an encouraging development with the summer season fast approaching.
Records of the PHO showed that from February 5 to 11, there were 469 patients that recovered while 229 new cases were registered, a sign described by health officials as an indication that the contagion is beginning to slow down with warmer climate.
This was backed up by the new tally which showed that the number of new cases continue to go down in many areas of Pangasinan: 43 on February 11, (27) on February 10, (5) on February 9, (38) on February 8 (20) on February 7 (49) on February 6 and (36) on February 5.
The tally showed the number of new recoveries outnumbered the number of new confirmed COVID-19 cases by a 2:1 ratio.
On February 11, 222 patients recovered; February 10 (47), February 9, (55), February 8 (67), February 7 (19), February 6 (134 the highest) and 36 on February 5.
Of the 4,527 total cases so far recorded, 3,444 were from the province’s 47 towns and cities and 1,083 from Dagupan, a chartered city.
Of the 10 new fatalities, six died on February 10, two on February 9 and one died on February 5 and 6.
San Carlos City now leads in the number of confirmed active cases of 62 in the province. Dagupan City is second with 47, followed by Malasiqui (24), Binmaley (16), Calasiao (15), San Fabian (15), Urdaneta City (15), Bayambang (14), Mangaldan (12), Asingan (11) and Sta. Maria (11),
Notably, there are still eight towns that remain without active cases: Agno, Bani, Burgos, Dasol, Infanta, Natividad, Sison and Sto. Tomas. (Leonardo Micua)
