THE new chief of police of Dagupan City, P/Lt. Colonel Louise Benjie Tremor has made it clear to the city government what his top priority concerns will be in the city – the campaign against illegal drugs and enforce strict compliance with health and distance protocols.

Tremor made these clear when he spoke during the virtual session of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) last Tuesday, January 19.

Tremor, who replaced P/Lt. Colonel Luis Ventura Jr. after assuming as Dagupan City police chief for only five months beginning August last year, assumed office last January 14 during a turnover ceremony presided by P/Brig. General Rodolfo Azurin Jr., police Region 1 director.

“As your newly installed officer-in-charge of the Dagupan Police Station, I will anchor my objectives from the priority programs of our chief PNP General Debold Sinas which are to intensify the campaign against illegal drugs, criminality, illegal gambling, corruption, terrorism and local communist armed conflict,” Tremor said.

When asked how he can help the city government in the campaign vs. COVID- 19, Tremor said he will increase police presence and visibility in barangays and in public areas to see to the strict compliance with the health and distance protocols.

He said he will also focus on discipline of personnel by implementing internal cleansing, adopting stick and carrot (reward and punishment) as the guiding standard to instill discipline.

Tremor added that he will also be guided by the direction set by Police Regional Director Azurin, that includes not only the intensified campaign against illegal drugs but the arrest of most wanted and against loose firearms and all other illegal activities.

He explained these are all anchored on the thrusts of the programs of Azurin’s Malasakit + Kaayusan+Kapayapaan=Kaunlaran (Progress). (Leonardo Micua)
