Kalinisan Karaban joins Abig Pangasinan’s program
THE provincial government recently resumed its ‘Kalinisan Karaban’ visits to various towns in Pangasinan as one of the components of the Abig Pangasinan Program that helps entrepreneurs affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gov. Amado Espino III had directed the General Services Office (GSO), to include Kalinisan Karaban, that collects plastic waste materials (shampoo sachets, plastic bottles and caps, sando bags, plastic cups, spoon and fork, candy wrappers, and other plastic scraps) in return for P20.00 per kilo.
The collected plastic wastes can be exchanged for goods like grocery items, school supplies, cellphone loads, and other items in the mobile store.
The program had since collected some 95 tons (95,214 kilos) of plastic wastes in 28 towns with an equivalent value of of more than P1.4-million, and more than P1.3-million worth of groceries, school supplies, and other items redeemed by approximately 5,491 residents since 2019.
Of the towns visited in July to yearend 2020, Bautista, Balungao and Bugallon collected the highest number of plastic wastes.
The collected plastic wastes from Kalinisan Karaban were brought to the recycling facility and converted into bricks through an automatic brick maker in which the bricks produced were donated to different schools and LGUs in the province. (PIO/DAT)
