Priest among new COVID-19 cases in San Carlos City

A priest in Brgy. Quezon Boulevard in San Carlos City, is among the new cases of COVID-19 in the city.

The City Information Office on Tuesday confirmed in a Facebook post that the priest has had no any travel history outside the province and might have contracted the virus from his exposure to parishioners.

“He was exposed probably due to his nature of vocation, (often) being with people and groups of individuals,” the statement said.

The priest who manifested flu-like symptoms of the virus was immediately isolated.

Contact tracing has begun to identify person who had previous contacts with the patient and will also be subjected to strict isolation and testing while the church was closed for immediate disinfection where the priest administers the sacraments.

Meanwhile, two asymptomatic residents of Brgy. Tamayo and Salinap, both women, tested positive for COVID-19.  They have been placed on strict home isolation.

The patient from Brgy. Salinap is a household helper and had an exposure to COVID-19 patients number 68 and 70.

On Monday, Dec. 21, the city Information Office also confirmed four new cases: three men residing in Brgy. Cacaritan, Quintong and Aponit, and a woman residing in Brgy. San Pedro.

As of Dec. 22, San Carlos City registered 72 COVID-19 cases: 23 active cases, 46 recoveries and three deaths.

“The city government urges the people to reduce activity and lessen non-essential travel to prevent Covid-19 transmission,” said the CIO said in a statement issued on Monday. (Jerick Pasiliao)
