Six families in Dagupan City ordered on lockdown
SIX families in Sitio Sagur in Barangay Pugaro in Dagupan City have been placed on lockdown since December 8 after a surge in active cases was reported in the island village.
Dr. Ophelia Rivera, COVID-19 focal person in Dagupan, said the lockdown was effected after Sitio Sagur was classified as critical or infectious zone of COVID-19.
As of 9:00 p.m. on December 8, Pugaro logged the highest number of active COVID-19 cases, most of whom were asymptomatic and all were brought to the LGU isolation facility.
Rivera said some 59 persons in the barangay were identified as close contacts of active COVID-19 and will be subjected to rapid anti-body test to determine if they, too, were infected.
She said the families placed on lockdown will not be permitted to leave their homes till they complete their 14-day quarantine.
Rivera recalled that the infection in Barangay Pugaro started after a senior citizen tested positive for COVID-19 and passed the virus to his children who in turn transmitted the virus to their friends.
She said all the basic needs of the isolated families are being provided in the meantime by the city government.
Meanwhile, Dagupan remains the epicenter of COVID-19 in Pangasinan with 84 active COVID-19 cases, all of whom remain confined and isolated.
There have been a total of 590 COVID-19 cases registered in Dagupan out of the 1,514 persons tested for the virus since the contagion began in the middle of March this year. Of the number, 479 had recovered and 28 had died.
As of December 8, the quarantine bed occupancy of the city was pegged at 45 percent.
Meanwhile, Pantal still trails Pugaro in the number of active cases at 11, followed by Bonuan Gueset (8), Malued (8), Caranglaan (7), Lucao (6), Bonuan Boquig (5), Bonuan Binloc (4), Mayombo (3), Pogo Grande (3), Salapingao (3), Lasip Chico (2), Pogo Chico (2), Bacayao Sur (1), Bolosan (1), Mangin (1), Poblacion Oeste (1), Tapuac (1), and Tebeng (1).
Bonuan Gueset has the most number of fatalities (5 deaths), Poblacion (3), Lucao (3), Poblacion Oeste (8), Bonuan Binloc (2), Caranglaan (2), Lasip Grande (2), Malued (2), Pantal (2), Bolosan (1), Calmay (1), Pogo Chico (1), and Tapuac (1).
