Dagupan still epicenter of COVID-19, Pugaro on top
AS of 9 p.m. on December 3, Dagupan City remained a COVID-19 hot spot in Pangasinan with 83 active cases, 16 cases of which are new, with a new twist – the island barangay of Pugaro already leads 30 others barangays in the number of active cases.
This brought the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases of the city to 574 since the pandemic started, out of the 15,133 persons who tested positive for the disease. Of the 576 confirmed cases, 466 have recovered.
Pugaro is the new virtual epicenter of COVID-19 in Dagupan with 17 active cases, overtaking erstwhile front runner Bonuan Gueset, now in second place with nine and Pantal in third place with eight.
Other cases are from Bonuan Boquig (6), Caranglaan (7), Lucao (6), Malued (5), Bonuan Binloc (4), Pogo Chico (2), Pogo Grande (3), Salapingao (3), Bolosan (2), Lasip Chico (2), Poblacion Oeste (2), Bacayao Sur (1), Herrero-Perez (1), Mayombo (2), Tapuac (1) and Tebeng (1).
The number of deaths in Dagupan has risen to 27, the latest to die on December 2 was a 73-year-old woman who was confined in a hospital and was diagnosed to have symptoms of the disease.
The 27 deaths were registered in Bonuan Gueset (4), Barangay 1 (3), Poblacion 1 (3), Bonuan Binloc (2), Caranglaan (2), Lasip Grande (2), Malued (2), Pantal (2), Bolosan (1), Calmay (1), Pogo Chico (1) and Tapuac (1).
The quarantine bed capacity of Dagapan as of December 3 stood at 45 percent, according to a report of the Dagupan City PIO.
Meanwhile, only two barangays of Dagupan have maintained their COVID-19-free status: Bacayao Norte and Mamalingling. (Leonardo Micua)
