By December 7, 2020News, Peace and Order

THE local police of Calasiao intensified its campaign to confiscate and destroy noisy mufflers of cars, motorcycles and tricycles to further minimize the distraction of students  who are having their online classes and employees doing work from home due to the pandemic.

P/Lt. Col. Ferdinand de Asis, town acting police chief, said that while this campaign had been started long before online classes were implemented, the intensified campaign led to the confiscation of 20 ear-splitting mufflers installed on motorcycles and tricycles.

He added that there is an existing local ordinance banning the use of modified mufflers.

The prescribed penalties are P500; P1,000; P1,500 plus 10 days imprisonment for the first, second and third offense respectively. (PhilStar Wire Service/ECV)
