45,662 persons cited for violating IATF rules
PANGASINAN PNP UPDATE
THE Pangasinan Police Provincial Office reported that 45,662 persons in Pangasinan have been cited for violating various guidelines and protocols promulgated by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Contagious Diseases (IATF) since March in the campaign against COVID-19.
P/Colonel Redrico Maranan, police provincial director, said of the number, 10,958 were caught not wearing face masks, 18,046 for not observing social distancing rule, (particularly single persons riding in tandem on motorcycles with no relations), 2,947 for operating public vehicles without permits and 13,711 for other violations.
Of those arrested, 2,466 were warned as it was their first offense, and the rest were issued violation tickets and fined in accordance with local ordinances of cities and municipalities.
There were 1,206 charged for violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code, while 482 charged for illegal gambling and 3,468 for other violations.
Among those arrested and charged were 29 elected officials for illegal gambling and other illegal activities.
Maranan said the campaign against violators of IATF rules and regulations in all 48 towns and cities without letup despite logistical and manpower constraints in the PNP command in Pangasinan with only 2,600 personnel.
He urged the barangay officials to actively oversee the enforcement of IATF rules and regulations to help stop the COVID-19 contagion. (Leonardo Micua)
