Pangasinan police launch ‘Task Force Baywalk’
THE Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) launched on Wednesday, Sep. 23, its Task Force Baywalk to assist tourists and ensure that IATF health protocols strictly enforced along the Lingayen-Binmanley Baywalk area.
At the launching ceremony, P/Col. Redrico Maranan, PPPO director, said the creation of the task force is an inter-agency approach to see to the strict observance of IATF rules by and among residents and visitors at the Lingayen-Binmaley Baywalk area.
Maranan said the police have partnered with the provincial government, the local governments of Lingayen and Binmaley towns, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Coast Guard, and the Maritime Group to accomplish the mission of the task force.
He said the task force is formed in addition to the “bicycle cops” recently organized in response to residents’ request for higher police visibility in the area.
Maranan added that the task force will not only address the IATF rules but security issues and social issues, i.e., garbage, squatting, etc. and compliance of business establishments with the community quarantine guidelines.
With the reopening of the tourism industry, he urged residents and visitors to be conscious of the continuing threat of COVID-19 infection.
He said the sudden surge of local visitors to the Lingayen-Bnmaley Baywalk area prompted the deployment of a task force in the area.
PPPO has provided a vehicle, two motorcycles, and 20 mountain bikes to patrol the area, in addition to the sea assets of maritime and the Coast Guard and logistical support from the provincial and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices in the two towns.
