OPERATIVES of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), reinforced by the Pangasinan police arrested five persons in a buy-bust operation and raid of a suspected drug den in Barangay Herrero-Perez in Dagupan City.

Retchie Camacho, PDEA-Pangasinan assistant provincial officer and operation team leader, identified the suspects as Fidel de Gracia, Raquel Royeca, Agnes Mejia, Maricel Caralipio, and Merle Carbonell, all residents of said place.

De Gracia, a high value target operating in Dagupan City and subject of the buy-bust operation, also turned out to be operating a drug den in his house.

“His house is being used as a drug den. Like a one-stop shop for his customers,” said Camacho.

PDEA considered the buy-bust operation as a High-Impact Operation (HIO), after the discovery and dismantling of the drug den operated by De Gracia.

An undercover agent initially bought one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu worth P2,000.

After the exchange, the operatives noticed the other persons inside the house and chanced upon a ‘shabu’ session going on at the time.

The buy-bust-cum raid operation resulted in the discovery and confiscation of 20 more sachets of suspected shabu, one of which was opened and partially consumed. In sum, the confiscated drug weighed 11 grams with a street value of P74, 800.

Also seized were several drug paraphernalia, one cellphone, and ID, and cash in different denominations.

They were sent to the PDEA Regional Office in San Fernando City La Union for further examination and subsequent filing of charges in violation of Republic Act 9165. (Ahikam Pasion)
