LTFRB oks new routes for 297 PUJs, PUBs
THE regional office of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has opened additional 22 identified routes in Pangasinan for 297 public utility vehicles (PUVs) last August 14.
Applications for special permits for Public Transportation Operation were open to the new identified routes, according to LTFRB, to qualified jeepney and bus operators in the province who are part of consolidated cooperatives or corporations and have complied with the standards set by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and LTFRB.
The new additional routes are Dagupan-CSI Lucao (PUJ), 9 units; Dagupan-Downtown Loop (PUJ), 17; Dagupan-Bonuan Gueset/Tondaligan (PUJ), 24; Dagupan-Bonuan Binloc (PUJ), 18; Dagupan-Bonuan Boquig (PUJ), 17 ; Dagupan-Mangin (PUJ), 5; Dagupan-Salisay-Tambac-Bolosan (PUJ), 16; Calasiao (PUJ), 19; San Carlos-Malasiqui (PUJ), 12; Binalonan-Urdaneta (PUJ), 6; Dagupan-Bolinao (PUV), 6; Dagupan-Urbiztondo (PUJ), 12; Dagupan-San Carlos via Calasiao (PUJ), 15; Dagupan-Malasiqui via San Carlos (PUJ), 8; Dagupan-Manaoag (PUJ), 7; Urdaneta-Asingan (PUJ), 7; Dagupan-Inmalog San Fabian (PUJ), 10; Alaminos-Dasol (PUJ), 6; Dagupan-Sual (PUJ), 14; Dagupan-Sta. Barbara via Highway (PUJ), 14; and Dagupan-Sta. Barbara via Tebag, 6.
Applicants must submit their applications via e-mail ltfrb_pang@yahoo.com, attaching their duly-accomplished on-line transaction request form, latest Land Transportation Office OR/CR, personal passenger accident insurance and certificate of road worthiness from LTO or Inspection Report from LTO.
Qualified operators are expected to order their drivers and conductors to wear masks and gloves at all times and carry only commuters that wear masks and face shields under the “no-mask & face shield- no ride” policy.
PUJ and PUB units are required to be OMG (Omnibus Franchising Guidelines) compliant, preferably with a facility in collecting the fare. (And in its absence, drivers/conductors shall collect the fares from the front seat before passengers board the PUV. They must agree to a maximum 50 percent load capacity.
Additionally, PUJ operators’ units must be installed with impermeable barriers between passengers.
Meanwhile, operators’ buses are expected to be equipped with thermal scanners to check body temperature of all passengers and disinfected all surfaces especially seats, armrest, wiped down with disinfecting agent at end of each trip. (Leonardo Micua)
