Villasis registers 1st COVID-19 transmission
THE town of Villasis registered not only its first locally transmitted COVID-19 case.
This was confirmed by the Villasis Anti-COVID-19 Task Force on August 17.
An 86-year-old woman from Barangay Puelay was tagged as the first case of community transmission when she was infected by her 29-year-old granddaughter, a medical frontline worker in Dagupan, who was earlier found positive for COVID-19.
In response, Mayor Nonato Abrenica ordered the extended lockdown of Barangay Puelay and all family and household members of the patients have been directed to go on strict quarantine and are prevented from accepting visitors in their premises until September 3.
After the mandatory quarantine, they will be made to take the RT-PCR test to determine if anyone tests positive. In case one tests positive, the lockdown will continue.
Abrenica said only one patient remains at the Municipal Isolation Facility in Barangay Unzad, a 61-year-old female, also from Barangay Puelay who has a travel history in Pampanga was classified as a Person Under Investigation (PUI).
The latter’s 21-year-old son who was her watcher and two lady employee who had a close contact with a COVID-19 positive in Rosales were already discharged when they tested negative.
Unfortunately, Patient No. 2 died early morning of August 15 and was buried immediately in observance of the protocol that requires the burial of the patient who died from the virus within 12 hours. (Leonardo Micua)
