PNP deploys more checkpoints for stricter control
MORE police checkpoints have been installed around Pangasinan to be able to further monitor persons going in and out of the province.
This was revealed by P/Colonel Redrico Maranan, police provincial director, after several persons managed to enter the province without the required travel permits and health certificates.
Maranan reiterated that only authorized persons outside residence (APOR) and properly documented individuals can enter and exit the province under the Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) protocol.
In addition, he said locally stranded individuals (LSI) armed with travel authority and medical certificate, and have undergone swab tests, can enter the province.
He reminded municipal and city governments that LSIs are required to be placed under a mandatory 14-day quarantine upon arrival in their communities.
Maranan said more checkpoints have been installed in the province’s outermost towns after the discovery of some ‘remote’ entry routes, that were used by undocumented travelers.
He cited the case of Balungao’s first ever Covid-19 case, a construction worker who managed to enter the province without proper documents, who traveled from Pasay City to Pangasinan, without the needed travel authority from his place of origin and claimed to have travelled via company bus on July 25, as reported by the Balungao Municipal IATF in its Facebook post.
Maranan asked barangay officials to continue monitoring and intercepting newly-arrived individuals in their respective barangays. (Ahikam Pasion)
