THE San Carlos City government cautiously considers the city as free of COVID-19 since it has not recorded any confirmed COVID-19 positive case over the last two weeks.

In a posted message on Facebook on Thursday, City Information Officer Jhuliano Nazareno confirmed that the city no longer has active COVID-19 case after fifteen patients have fully recovered and have been discharged from the hospital.

San Carlos City recorded its first COVID-19 case on the last week of May after a police frontliner, resident of Barangay Turac but assigned in Dagupan City, tested positive.

The latest COVID-19 patient to recover from the virus is a 55-year-old female doctor and a resident of Barangay PNR Site.

He said most of the patients were frontliners and locally stranded individuals (LSIs).

Nazareno said Mayor Julier Resuello has instructed the local police station and the Public Order and Safety Office to strictly implement checkpoint operations in the city to ensure that no undocumented individuals can enter the city.

Meanwhile, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the local economy of the city is continuously receiving a boost as more business establishments have resumed operations.

“We are glad that different businesses in the city continue operating. Actually, there are some business owners that are applying for business permits in our one-stop shop” he added. (Jerick Pasiiao)
