A 47-year-old male from Barangay, Malabago in Calasiao who arrived from the National Capital Region (NCR) as a locally stranded individual (LSI) became the 8th confirmed COVID-19 case in the town.

Mayor Joseph Arman Bauzon said the patient was advised by the barangay chairman to go on self-quarantine for 14 days upon arrival on July 25.

However, he started having a fever and respiratory symptom (dry throat) two days later.

The Calasiao Rural Health Unit 1 swabbed him on July 31 and his specimens were subjected to Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction Test that confirmed on August 2 that he was COVID-19 positive.

He is presently confined at the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital.

Meanwhile, four of 19 persons who were traced as among those with the patient had a close contact have been advised to home quarantine before being subjected to swabbing for RT-PCR test.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Health Office reported that some of the contacts traced were violating the strict quarantine protocol imposed on them.

Consequently, Mayor Bauzon ordered a residential compound containment initially in Barangay Malabago but the mayor said he’s inclined to place the barangay on lockdown.

The MHO urged Calasiao residents to report the arrival of any LSIs arriving to their barangay officials so they can be subjected to RTR-PCR test and quarantined before they join their respective families. (Leonardo Micua)
