Barangay officials in drinking spree inside barangay hall, arrested
SEVERAL barangay officials in Lingayen were arrested after the police caught them in the middle of their drinking spree in Barangay Dulag, this town Sunday evening.
The Lingayen Police Station responded to a call that the barangay chairman and his officials were drinking inside the barangay hall and gunshots were heard in the area.
As reported, indeed the responding police officers found Barangay Chairman Benjie Mararac, incumbent barangay councilors Jerwin Canilang, Arthur Rosario, and Edzel Mararac, Barangay Tanod Jaime Ferrer, and Ruben Mangiralas, were in the middle of a drinking spree with resident Harold Calingasin.
It was also found out that Mararac was responsible for the indiscriminate firing using his Glock cal. 40.
The police promptly seized the gun and the five emptied and one unfinished bottles of gin.
The suspects were arrested and are facing charges for violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code, RA 11469, and EO 0013-2020. (Ahikam Pasion)
