6th COVID-19 survivor leaves Halfway House
THE provincial government’s halfway house in Sta. Barbara sent home its sixth COVID-19 survivor on April 21.
The sixth COVID-19 survivor, a 66-year-old female from Malasiqui stayed at the halfway since April 14 to complete her remaining quarantine period after testing negative twice at the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital.
She received a certificate from the Provincial Health Office that she finished the 28-day treatment management and isolation and was brought home by the provincial government, accompanied by a staff nurse.
Provincial Health Officer II Anna Ma. Teresa S. De Guzman said the survivor admitted she contacted the virus when she was traveling back to the province with her husband while on board a public transportation bus and was not wearing a protective face mask.
On her first day in the province, she showed symptoms of COVID-19 that included sore throat, nasal congestion and tiredness; however, her husband showed no symptom.
As of April 22, there were still 5 patients confined at the halfway house.
Dr. De Guzman said the halfway house is intended for COVID-19 survivor patients and other patients under investigation or suspects on the way to recovery, especially COVID-19 positive patients who already tested negative and completed 14-day quarantine inside a hospital to complete their next 14-day quarantine for treatment and management for a 28-quarantine period.
