3 village heads, four others arrested for gambling, drinking
SEVEN individuals, three of whom are barangay chairmen, were arrested by authorities in Bayambang for gambling and drinking liquor in violation of the Extreme Enhanced Community Quarantine protocol.
P/Lt. Colonel Norman Florentino, Bayambang chief of police, said the group was gambling in Barangay Buenlag 1st, in a farm owned by Barangay Chairman Ricardo Benitez.
Among those arrested with Benitez were, Barangay Tamaro chairman Renato Rosario and Barangay Banagan chairman Romeo Caranto.
Florentino, however, did not identify the four remaining civilians in cahoots with the barangay heads.
He said the two barangay heads were gambling with another person while the other was having a drinking session with three others, said Florentino in an interview over Aksyon Radyo Thursday afternoon.
The suspects are currently detained at the Bayambang PNP cell, and are facing charges for violation of PD 1602 (illegal gambling) in relation to the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act. (Ahikam Pasion)
