Governor Espino extends Pangasinan’s EECQ to April 30

THE Extreme Enhanced Quarantine (EECQ) in Pangasinan has been extended by Gov. Amado Espino III up to April 30, after two previous extensions, first up to April 14  and second up to April 21.

Espino issued Executive Order No. 1019-2029 amending the extension of EECQ from April 21 to April 30, citing three new COVID-19 cases last April 15 and upon the recommendation of the Crisis Management Team in a meeting held on that date.

He clarified that EO No.0019-2020 was amended insofar as the date extension (from April 14 to April 21) only.

Previous to this, he issued EO No. 0015-2020 B that earlier set the EECQ to expire on April 7, which he earlier extended to April 14.

The extension will continue to bar anyone from entering and leaving Pangasinan yet up to April 30 with exception to frontline workers and those bringing in essential commodities to Pangasinan and bringing Pangasinan native products to Metro Manila and other areas.

When Espino issued the EO No.,0019-2020, there were only 33 confirmed COVID-19 cases, nine of whom passed away which represented an increase only of five cases from 28.

Although the increase in the number of new cases by five or from 28 to 33 was still relatively low, he was encouraged by the recovery of 13 former COVID-19 positives in the past nine days.

He felt justified by the new extension when the number of recovered cases increased to 14 on April 15, and a 75-year-old male from Infanta was discharged by the Region 1 Medical Center after days of confinement. (Leonardo Micua)
