13 towns still without PUI, COVID-19-cases

AS of April 9, thirteen of the 48 towns and cities of Pangasinan have managed to maintain their no record of a single confirmed case, not even as Patient Under InvestigationĀ (PUI) for COVID-19 since President Duterte declared Luzon under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) protocol.

According to the Provincial Health Office (PHO): six are in Western Pangasinan (Bolinao, Anda, Burgos, Sual, Dasol, and Mabini), three are in Central Pangasinan (Bautista, Alcala and Laoac) and four in Eastern Pangasinan (San Nicolas, Sta. Maria, Balungao, and Laoac).

Meanwhile, four towns (Villasis, Umingan, San Jacinto and Labrador) were reverted to the status as free of COVID-19 infected after their reported PUIs recovered during their treatment in hospitals. Villasis reported three PUIs that recovered, and one each from Umingan, San Jacinto and Labrador.

The case of Villasis being restored as COVID-free was considered a feat since it is surrounded by Urdaneta, Asingan, Rosales, Malasiqui, and Sto. Tomas all of which recorded COVID-19 cases and a significant number of PUIs.

However, the 18 towns still have Persons Under Monitoring to contend with, many of whom are still undergoing the mandatory14-day quarantine.

Meanwhile, Pozorrubio was also back as COVID-19-free after its lone confirmed case, a 68-year-old male tested negative of the virus on April 7 at The Medical City in Ortigas, Pasig, where he was confined.

The update data show that as of April 9, the confirmed COVID-19 cases, and the PUIs are concentrated in just 30 towns and cities in the province. (Leonardo Micua)
