Laoac reports its first COVID-19 case
A HEALTHCARE worker from Laoac town became the first-ever confirmed case of COVID-19 of the town.
According to Laoac Mayor Ricardo Balderas, the patient, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, is suspected to have acquired the virus from her work at a hospital outside the municipality.
“The patient is now being strictly monitored by our Municipal Health Officer and all necessary assistance shall be extended to the patient and the family,” Balderas said.
He added that family members living with the patient were already advised to undergo strict home quarantine.
Meanwhile, Balderas placed Barangay Poblacion under total lockdown effective 12:01 a.m. of April 10.
“No one is permitted to enter and exit Barangay Poblacion until 12:01 A.M. of April 24, 2020,” he said in a public advisory.
In Urdaneta City, Pangasinan, Mayor Julio Parayno III said that as of April 9, a person under investigation in Barangay Poblacion was confirmed to be infected with COVID-19.
The confirmed case is 53-year-old female and had travel history from UP Diliman, Quezon City on March 13, 2020 and returned to Urdaneta City on that same day, Parayno said.
