Fewer got sick at the start of 2020
THE health situation in Pangasinan is better during the first month of the year (January) with lower incidence of diseases monitored by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) compared to last year’s over the same period.
This was reported by Dr. Anna Ma. Teresa de Guzman, the provincial health officer, based on the monitoring of PHO of the lower incidence this January of dengue, gastroenteritis, typhoid, leptospirosis, measles, fever, and rabies.
She said dengue cases reported from January 1 to 27 this year was 37 percent lower or only 219 compared to 335 over the same period last year.
Gastroenteritis cases recorded over the same period was 354, or 47 percent lower compared to 666 cases last year.
Reported typhoid cases were only eight compared to 17 last year, or 53 percent lower.
There were 120 cases of measles registered in 2019 compared to only 2 cases this year.
Leptospirosis cases this year were only 2, compared to 11 last year.
No rabies was reported this year compared to one last year.
De Guzman said the data show that Pangasinenses appear to be getting more health conscious this year. (Leonardo Micua)
