THE Shrine of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary of Manaoag remains the top tourist destination in Pangasinan accounting for 7 million of the more than 9 million tourists that visited.

According to Ma. Luisa Elduayan, Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Officer, the church became more popular after it was formally proclaimed as a Minor Basilica by the Pope’s representative, Papal Nuncio Guiseppe Pinto.

Visitors to the shrine have been increasing every Holy week, she said.

The Capitol Building, considered as one of the Architectural Treasures of the country, drew more than 500,000 visits in 2018.  And has become a favorite venue for seminars, conventions while  special social occasions are usually held at the Sison Auditorium.

Other popular beach destinations in Western Pangasinan: Surip Beach in Bani, Patar Beach in Bolinao, Masamirey in Sual, and the Hundred Islands National Park, and the eastern province’s Balungao Hilltop Adventure, Tayug Sunflower Garden, and Natividad’s Maranum Falls and Skyplaza gained more tourists as well.

This year, the province will continue to have its focus on sports and farm tourism. The province has been partnering with various private companies for the conduct of beach games in Lingayen, and the Department of Tourism (DOT) accredited seven farm sites in Mangatarem, San Fabian, Villasis and Balungao that offers experience of farm life.
