Ageless ring warrior Pacman
By Jesus A. Garcia Jr.
Pacquiao defies the age.
Remember, after wresting the WBA welterweight throne from Argentine Lucas
Mathysee July last year, Pacman successfully defended his title against a
decade younger than him, American Adrien Boner, via unanimous decision. And he
did it again against the durable and heavy handed Thurman, ten years his
junior. “Life begins at 40,” as the axiom popularized by the late Elvis
Presley. This proverb was proven by Pacquiao last Sunday establishing a record
in the 147-pound class to be the first champ in the history of welterweight
division at the age of 40. He did it with no prescient anticipation by boxing
experts.
After the fight, his trainer Freddie Roach gave Pacman an unsolicited advice to
think it firmly if he will still continue fighting or hang up his gloves before
anything serious happens to him. Pacman’s head trainer Buboy Fernandez said his
cumpadre Pacman can make the final decision. Pacman concluded after arriving
here last Tuesday that he will still fight probably early next year.
Co-welterweight champions
Errol Spence of International Boxing Federation (IBF), Shawn Porter of World
Boxing Council (WBC), ex-champion Danny Garcia and even his former sparing mate
Amir Khan are likely Pacman’s probable next opponent in February or March.
Let’s just wait and see.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK: The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). When He comes, He will tell us things. Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.” JOHN 4: 25-26
