DON’T look now but the operation of a fast ferry crafts along the shoreline of the Baywalk project in Lingayen and Binmaley area may soon be a reality.

According to outgoing Second District Rep. and Incoming Lingayen Mayor Leopoldo N. Bataoil, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is doing a feasibility study for his proposed fast ferry craft terminal project as part of the tourism development on the coastline of Lingayen Gulf.

The dream project is close to being implemented following the meeting of the representatives from the PPA, Philippine Tourism Authority (PTA) with the Municipal Development Council in Binmaley town to study the construction of a fast ferry craft terminal along the Baywalk Project at the part of the shoreline of Barangay San Isidro in Binmaley near the Army camp.

According to Bataoil, fast ferry craft operations will attract more tourists who will visit Pangasinan, i.e., town of Lingayen, where General Douglas McArthur’s forces landed during the World War II and the historic Limahong Channel where the Chinese warlord Limahong took refuge in 1574.

With the fast ferry terminals to be built along the 15 kilometer Baywalk project, tourists will travel faster to the Hundred Islands in Alaminos City, Bolinao, Dagupan City, San Fabian, Agoo and Poro Point in San Fernando, La Union with scenic views of shorelines once the fast ferry craft terminal will be constructed.

Bataoil said the goal is to make help make Pangasinan a major tourist destination and boost the local economy and livelihood of fishermen, and the expected opening of new employment and business opportunities in the area from the expected influx of local and foreign tourists. (Nora Dominguez)
