3rd Umaani Expo set March 11-16
LINGAYEN — The provincial government will hold the 3rd Pangasinan
Umaani Expo on March 11-16 at the Provincial Agriculture Center in Tebag, Sta.
Barbara.
Launched in 2017, the Umaani Expo is the converging point of farmers,
fisherfolks, and stakeholders of the agriculture sector in the province for
transfer of knowledge and farming system, and a show window of latest farm
machineries and equipment, and market promotion for farmers and products.
“The Umaani Expo, a brainchild project of Governor Espino, is a way of showing
recognition and gratitude to the farmers, and fishermen for their sacrifices
and invaluable contributions to the food security in the province, and
to nation building,” Batalla said.
The
five-day agricultural event reels off on March 11 through a Thanksgiving Mass
and Formal Opening Program with Senator Aquilino Martin “KoKo” Pimentel as d
guest of honor and speaker.
Scheduled
on the succeeding days of the agricultural event are: Agew na Umaaniy
Pagey (Rice Farmers’ Day) on the 12th with former Special Assistant to the
President Bong Go as honored guest speaker; Agew na Umaanid
Tanaman (Corn and High Value Crops Farmers’ Day) on the 13th with
Governor Espino as honored guest speaker; Agew na Umaanin Bii
(Women’s and Agribusiness Day), and Agew na Umaaniy Sira
(Fisherfolks’ Day) on the 14th with Congresswoman Pia Cayetano as honored guest
speaker; Agew na Umaani Extension Officers (Agricultural Extension
Workers’ Day), and Agew na Manag-ayep (Livestock Raisers’ Day)
on the 15th with San Roque Power Corporation Vice President Tommy Valdez as
honored guest speaker; and Exhibitors an Sponsors Day 9’ the 16th.

Provincial Agriculturist Nestor Batalla expressed confidence on the
successful staging of the third Umaani Expo, noting the all-out support and
participation of farmers, fisherfolks and key players of the agriculture sector
