Urbiztondo’s Sgt. Aquino hailed as modern day hero
DIED IN ACTION
LINGAYEN–The Sangguniang
Panlalawigan acknowledged the heroic act of Philippine Army Sergeant Oliver
Aquino of Urbiztondo town who died during a firefight between his unit and a
group of Abu Sayyaf terrorists in Patikul, Sulo February 2, 2019.
The provincial board adopted a resolution expressing its “deepest sympathies
and sincerest condolences” to the bereaved family of Sergeant Aquino citing the
mourning of the nation over his death and several of his team in that
encounter.
The resolution, sponsored by Second
District Board Member Raul Sison, recognized Sergeant Aquino as “a
modern-day hero for his gallantry and patriotism that had helped bring peace in
the southern part of the country.”
In recognition of his dedication to the military service, Sergeant Aquino
deserves the highest salute from all officials, leaders and people of
Pangasinan, the resolution read.
The resolution was passed during a regular session attended by Aquino’s father,
