Major estate developers bullish on Pangasinan, Dagupan
MORE investments that will create more jobs are seen to pour into Dagupan City as major business groups in the country have expressed confidence in the city’s economic growth plans.
And the most bullish of them all is SM Inc. which is building the SM City Dagupan on a former terminal of the Pantranco on M.H. Del Pilar Street, said Engr. Romeo Rosario, Vice Chairman of the Dagupan City Investment and Development Board (DCIDB).
SM is now completing Phase II of the SM City Dagupan project. Phase I, the SM Hyper Mart, is already operational after its completion late last year.
Rosario learned that Phase II of SM Dagupan is set to be completed within this year and the bigger SM Dagupan Mall to be constructed on a 160,000 square meter lot in Barangay Tambac, is already on the drawing board.
SM City Dagupan was the second mall to set up in Dagupan last year. The City Mall (of Golden Dragon Corp.) located in Barangay Mayombo., was ahead by a few months.
Rosario said another major investment expected in Dagupan is the ACE Hospital, a five-storey building to be built soon in Barangay Lucao.
The DCIDB, headed by Mayor Belen Fernandez, endorsed the construction and development of the ACE Hospital proposed by a group of doctors from Manila, said Rosario.
“We welcomed ACE Hospital into the city as there is a certainly a place for yet another private hospital in Dagupan to serve the growing number of people of Dagupan and Pangasinan, ,” said Rosario.
Another big investor endorsed by DCIDB is Fil-Invest a developer about to start building its eleven 7-storey condominium projects in the city.
Sta. Lucia Realty, which came at the start of the first term of Mayor Fernandez, built a high-end subdivision in Barangay Salisay.
Rosario said the other investors are homegrown businessmen who have started expanding their businesses to cater to the growing population in the city of Dagupan and neighboring towns.
He noted major trading activities developments rising along the new growth areas in the city: from Barangays Lucao to Pantal and the Bonuan area as well as from Lucao to Calasiao along the De Venecia Highway. (Leonardo Micua)
