Nine Dagupan workers in Japan for skills training

NINE Dagupenos are set to fly to Japan today for a three-year training on various skills, knowledge and technology transfers under a program sponsored by the Technical Education Skills Development Authority and the Japan International Training Cooperation Organization (JITCO).

      Their training includes construction, welding, machine operation, and training in various trades and enterprises all over Japan, among others.

      It seeks, among others, to promote competitiveness of Filipino workers through on-the-job training in advanced production system in various companies in Japan.

      The nine, accompanied by Public Employment Service Officer Melita Malong, called on Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr. recently at the city hall.

      Malong explained skills and technology transfer program sponsored by TESDA and JITCO is a private agreement between Japanese and Philippine companies.

      “It aims to intensify the training of industry workers through their acquisition of new skills and technologies from Japan, being a developed country,” Malong said.

      While in Japan, the trainees will receive Y70,000, free accommodation and health insurance benefits during his first year, plus a chance of employment once they pass the required government examination.
