THE Dagupan City government is poised to boost some of its continuing projects after realigning savings sourced from operations of various projects and offices through an ordinance passed by the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) on November 19.

The city realized total of P9,861,594 in savings, bulk of which came from projects under the approved 20 percent development fund in the amount of P4,835,000.

The savings were realigned to the general funds and appropriated under Supplemental Project No. 2.

Other savings were sourced from non-office accounts under Supplemental Budgets for CY 2018 and 2017, reversion for medical equipment under the City Health Office under SP 2018, personnel savings for various offices from first to second quarters of 2018, reversion from repairs and equipment under the City Treasurer’s  Office in 2018 and MOOE (Maintenance Operating and Other Expenses) Account.

Councilor Jeslito Seen, chair of the SP committee on appropriations, said among the programs and projects that will be benefitted by the savings include purchase of  high-frequency radiographic x-ray system with computed radiography system and placenta pit and needle vault for the lying-in clinic for the soon to be completed Dagupan City Diagnostic Center, a project funded by the Department of Health with a counterpart fund from the city government.

Another is the financial assistance program for indigents under the Social Welfare and Development Office, the fabrication/installation of overhead water tank with jetmatic motor pumps and fittings, installation of window grills in various offices, the terminal and loyalty pay of retiring and resigned employees of the city government.

The Office of Mayor Belen Fernandez endorsed the realignment and reversion of the savings to the general fund and the appropriation of the amount to fund other urgent programs and projects based on the recommendation from the Dagupan People’s Organization. (Leonardo Micua)
