Cenpelco acquires new equipment to detect causes
TO MINIMIZE BROWNOUTS
TO further minimize the brownouts in its area, the Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (CENPELCO) management has acquired new equipment that will prevent or minimize unscheduled power trip offs.
Engr. Rodrigo Corpuz, CENPELCO general manager, said an automatic circuit recloser was recently installed to contain or minimize the extent of power outage and prevent the damage of distribution lines.
Another apparatus, an ultrasound detector worth P1 million was also acquired by CENPELCO to easily detect the causes of power outage.
Corpuz said there are areas that are often hit by power interruption and when they go to check, they find the lines clear of any external debris, no branches or other materials found stuck on any part that could affect the operation.
“There are materials not seen by naked eye like a broken insulator that cause interruptions of operations,” he said adding that this is the reason the management decided on the new equipment so the cause can easily be detected.
Corpuz said, since the apparatus has been acquired, power outage has been minimized.
He, however, clarified that scheduled power interruptions cannot be avoided to give way for maintenance activities.
CENPELCO already formed a task force for immediate response in times of sudden power outage.
Corpuz said, they created an official Facebook account to publish notices of power interruptions but warned that there are fake accounts with the CENPELCO logo that deliberately confuses the consumers.
He said the discovery of fake Cenpelco FB accounts would be reported to the National Bureau of Investigation to identify the owners of the fake accounts. (Nora Dominguez)
