Malasiqui cops reach out to residents on Nov 1
MALASIQUI—Families planning to go to the cemeteries on November 1 in the town are in for a treat from town’s police station.
Policemen here will distribute free candles, provide free water, free calls and texts at the public cemeteries to families who will visit graves of their departed loved ones on November 1.
P/Superintendent Franklin Ortiz, town police chief, said “Libreng Kandila, Alay sa Yumaong Kapamilya” is one of the town police’s best practices.
Each white candle is adorned with a midnight blue with silver lining ribbon and a small card that contains the police hotlines to encourage the people to report a crime/incident for assistance.
Aside from free candles, the policemen will also provide free potable water, free calls and texts to all networks, free blood pressure monitor, free rest area at their desk for senior citizens and pregnant women where they can rest.
He said they will also give tips to families on “dos and don’ts” while visiting their beloved’s graves, particularly those bringing children to the cemetery, i.e., putting a name tag on their small children for easier identification in case they get lost. They will also be advised that deadly weapons, alcoholic drinks will not be allowed inside the cemetery.
The town has three cemeteries, one in Barangay Lareg-lareg and two others in Poblacion.
During the last Valentine’s Day celebration, policemen here also gave a stem of rose each to ladies on the street to spread expression of love.
The policemen also joined farmers in planting rice to make them and the people understand and appreciate better the sacrifices of farmers. ( PhilStar Wire Service)
