Drug clearing operations resume this week

THE drug-clearing operations of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO), which was suspended recently to give way to the May 14 barangay and sangguniang kabataan elections, will resume this week.

P/ Chief Inspector Norman Florentino, police community relations officer, said so far, 25 towns and 1 city have been “cleared” of illegal drugs.

These include: Alaminos City, Agno, Laoac, Dasol, Mapandan, San Nicolas, Natividad, Anda, Mabini, Alcala, Malasiqui, Burgos, Sta. Maria, Sison, Binalonan, Aguilar, Bugallon, San Jacinto, Lingayen, Bautista, Bayambang, Mangatarem, Rosales, Labrador, Calasiao and Sto. Tomas.

The municipalities of San Manuel, Tayug and Urdaneta were already approved by the regional subcommittee and last week were awaiting the final approval of the regional oversight committee (ROC).

The status of Bolinao, Urbiztondo and Basista remain pending before the ROC.

Meanwhile, the towns of Villasis, Asingan, Sta. Barbara, Pozorrubio, Mangaldan, Sual, Manaoag, San Fabian, Umingan, San Carlos, Bani, Balungao, Infanta and Binmaley are still awaiting for the approval of the regional subcommittee.

Dagupan City and San Quintin will be validated by the provincial subcommittee pending their full submission of the required documents.

Meanwhile, Florentino said the names of known narco politicians and those who did not take the drug test but gained positions in the barangays are still being compiled. (Nora Dominguez)
