Donate a book for Marawi’s children
THE SM Store and SM Stationery have announced a Donate-a-Book campaign aimed at raising donations of reading materials for the children of war-ravaged Marawi.
In the joint project, booths are set up in The SM Store branches nationwide where shoppers can turn over new and old books and brand new school supplies from May 1, 2018 to June 30, 2018.
Last year’s five-month-long siege in Marawi that ended in October affected thousands of children’s lives, SM Store noted. “Some schools were destroyed that left many children without access to education, worse, can’t afford basic learning materials like books and school supplies”, it said.
“Reading is known as a powerful tool for healing as it helps the mind to find its peaceful place. This is because books are motivating, inspirational and give a vision of human strength. Help the children of Marawi overcome difficulties and dream again with the Gift of Reading,” SM said.
For each donation, customer will get a P50 discount coupon which can be redeemed for every minimum P500 single-receipt purchase on regular-priced items from the SM Stationery at The SM Store. Coupons are valid until May 1, 2019, SM said.
