Capitol hosts out-of-school youths training
LINGAYEN—The Pangasinan Reformation Center (PRC) in Burgos town is not for the exclusive use of drug personalities seeking a new life.
Last May 15-18, the reform center was the venue for a program on leadership training, personality development and enrichment activities for 36 participants that included out-of-school and in-school youth and persons with disabilities.
PRC officer-in-charge Eugenie Guiang, who is also chief of the Dasol Community Hospital, said the out of school youth in the training program are from the Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP)-Anda chapter.
Anda’s PYAP point person, Al Preach Casulla, thanked the provincial government for the opportunity given them to be hosted. “This is the first time that we are invited to take part in an out-of-town leadership and recreational camp like this,” said Casulla.
PYAP Anda, with almost 800 members, is the most active in sustaining various youth development programs, Guiang said.
Among the topics covered were Unlad Kabataan Program, Values Enhancement and Personality Development, Entrepreneurial Mind Setting (Sulong Dunong: Access to formal, vocational, and technical skills training; and livelihood programs), Leadership Training and Social Responsibility, Population Awareness and Family Life Orientation, and engagement on the anti-illegal drugs campaign in Pangasinan.
Before the youth training, the PRC accommodated two batches of persons in drug cases from Burgos and Dasol towns. (PIO/MGNO)
