BOOMING TALABA INDUSTRY
BOOMING TALABA INDUSTRY – Jesus Purugganan of Sitio Tococ, Lucao checks the sizes of ‘talaba’ in his oyster farm due for harvest on the first week of March. He is among the 15 ‘talaba’ growers who received free bamboos and rubber strips from the city as livelihood assistance of Mayor Belen T. Fernandez to the marginalized fisherfolk. Purugganan said the oyster industry is now a good source of livelihood after fish pens were removed from the city’s rivers. He said ‘talaba’ commands a better price today. (CIOphoto by Arriz Fruelda)
