Dagupan residents will start paying more for their water consumption beginning this month.

Dagupan City Water District General Manager Ramon Reyna said consumers will see the minimal increase reflected in their March billing for their consumption in February.

Reyna said that under the bracket system drawn up by DCWD, residential houses will pay a minimum of P125 for the first 10 cubic meters.

The commodity charges for the succeeding cubic meters consumed will be P13.75 per cubic meter for 11-20 cubic meters,; P15 per cubic meter for 21-50 cubic meters, and P40 per cubic meter for 51 cubic meters and Up.

The increase was decided by the DCWD  Board of Directors last Nov. 23,  2005 when it adopted Resolution No.053-05.

This resolution received the concurrence of the Local Water Utilities Administration last January 3,2006.

Reyna stressed said that in spite of the water rate increase, the DCWD still charges the lowest water rate as compared to the water rates in other towns and cities in Region 1.

With the increase, he assured consumers of better services in the delivery of safe and potable drinking water.

The DCWD, Reyna said, has a program seeking to extend its pipelines up  to the  far-flung barangays. –APE
