THE Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) has passed a resolution authorizing Mayor Belen T. Fernandez to supplement the 20 percent share of the Bureau of Fire Protection station in the city, specifically, for procurement of two new fire trucks.

The resolution authored by Councilor Jose Netu Tamayo last January 17, cited the need for fire engines for BFP-Dagupan to effectively respond to fires in the city.

BFP-Dagupan often relies on fire trucks from the Panda Firefighting Brigade, USATV and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) in case of fires in Dagupan City.

He said 58 fire incidents in the city were recorded last year with combined property damages of P.9 million.

Meanwhile, Councilor Redford Mejia sought to clarify the amount of the 20% share of the BFP in fire code fee collected from business establishments and new houses.

City Treasurer Romelita Alcanatara is expected to provide the data during the session this week. (Blessie Ramos, CdD)
