Espino wants better health services for indigents
LINGAYEN– The provincial government will start hiring more doctors, nurses and other medical personnel in 2018 to beef up the existing manpower in all the 14 public hospitals being operated by the province.
The hiring signals the shift in priorities of the Espino administration, from infrastructure development of all government hospitals to manpower development next year.
This was spelled out by Gov. Amado Espino III on Tuesday, members of the Provincial Development Council (PDC) as he stressed that the focus will be on the welfare of indigent families.
In previous years, particularly during the administration of then Gov. Amado Espino Jr., now Representative of the Fifth District, the provincial government focused on upgrading and renovating the hospitals, and providing these with new and modern equipment.
Another priority bared by Espino is the construction and renovation of provincial roads and school buildings.
Set for construction next year are the Provincial Training and Development Center II and the Pangasinan Coliseum at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center.
Meanwhile, the Governor reported that the reconstruction of the Casa Real, once seat of the provincial government of Pangasinan, which was renamed as “Abong na Dayew” is now almost complete.
The project received initial funding of P5 million from the provincial government, which was subsequently boosted by funds from the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Tourism Infrastructure Enterprise Zone Authority. (Leonardo Micua)
