LTO Lingayen starts distribution of 5-year driver’s licenses
LINGAYEN— The five-year validity driver’s licenses in plastic can now be issued by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) field office to applicants for new and renewal licenses.
This was assured by LTO Lingayen Office Head Eric Suriben who said his office has been able to cope with the backlog caused by the delay in the delivery of plasticized licenses.
Suriben said drivers’ who were only issued official receipts can already claim their licenses.
He said backlog reached 15,000 as of November 6, 2017 and this has reduced to 11,000.
He said, his office processes applications in their backlog early morning daily.
The LTO Lingayen Field Office serves second congressional district.
He said applicants may go to any LTO field district.
Suriben reminded applicants for new driver’s license should be at least 17 years old, and will be issued student permit initially and can convert to non-professional driver’s license after a month. However, applicants for professional driver’s license, must be at least 18 years old.
The applicants for new licenses should submit their authenticated birth certificates and should pass written and practical examination, Suriben said. (Eva Visperas)
