After “stop the killings”, “start the healing” begins
AFTER the Lingayen-Dagupan archdiocese stopped the pealing of bells to protest the killings in the war on drugs declared by the Duterte administration last Thursday, Nov. 2, the “start the healing” campaign will be launched today, Nov. 5.
In an ABS-CBN interview last Thursday, Lingayen-Dagupan Auxiliary Bishop Jose Elmer Mangalinao said the call to “start the healing” will start today with a mass at the EDSA Our Lady of Peace shrine.
“The pealing of the bells that started in August have ended on Nov. 2,” said Mangalinao.
“It was done by the Mother Church to remind the faithful that life is sacred and no one has the right to take it away or to kill,” he said.
Mangalinao will preside over the celebration of the Holy Mass at the St. John The Evangelist Cathedral in Dagupan today Sunday, Nov. 5 at 6:00 p.m.
“To the dead, we remember them through prayers and to appeal to conscience of those who kill,” Mangalinao said.
He said they hope the “start the healing” campaign will have deeper interaction with people who have big role to stop the problem. (Eva Visperas)
