SITG investigates Vietnamese fishermen
THE Special Investigation Task Group formed by the Provincial Committee on Illegal Entrant convened for the third time last September 28.
P/Chief Inspector Christopher Natnat, SITG spokesman, said the task force was created to conduct investigation for the possible filing of criminal case.
The task group ordered the CIDG to extract sworn statements from the five Vietnamese through the legal counsel and interpreter provided by the Vietnamese Embassy while BFAR was tasked to conduct an inventory on what was inside the fishing vessel.
CIDG has conducted the cross matching and ballistic examination to the 10 M16 and two 50 caliber machine guns of the Navy and the ballistic report was sent to Camp Crame.
Pangasinan SOCO who processed the crime scene and conducted the autopsy on the two dead Vietnamese have already submitted its report to the Task Group.
The Task Group said it will complete its review of the consolidated reports on October 3.
Natnat said SITG cannot release summary of the report until Tuesday, October 3, mainly to determine if a criminal case should be filed, who are liable for the deaths of the two Vietnamese fishermen, and what cases should be filed against the foreign fishermen who were caught fishing inside the 200 miles economic zone of the Philippines, a clear violation to the Philippine Law.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and the Bureau of Immigration have started the processing for the repatriation of the two cadavers and deportation of the five Vietnamese fishermen.
In an exclusive PUNCH interview with Al Ventenilla, the owner of Bani Funeral Homes said, it was 4 a.m. last Sunday after an hour of briefing and SOCO processing when the funeral workers were able to retrieve the bodies of Le Van Reo and Le Van Liem, who both had gunshot wounds.
According to the embalmer, the cadavers were already beginning to decay. (Nora Dominguez)
