THE Search for the Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) is on.

A team from the National Youth Commission (NYC) was in Dagupan City recently to encourage students to join and be part of the annual search for accomplished youth groups.

“TAYO is all about finding, recognizing, and rewarding youth organizations that create their own spark so that others may also bask in the same light,” Cristabeth Madrigal, NYC officer said during the Pangasinan leg of promotional campaign held at the University of Luzon, this city on Monday.

“During these times when the youth is faced with various challenges and everything is available on the internet, let us go back to the values taught us. Let us go back to the basics so we won’t be having problems,” she added.

TAYO Foundation Executive Director James De Vera encouraged groups, barkadas, organizations, clubs and societies whose members are at least 30 years old and below to join the search for TAYO.

“TAYO is now on its 15th year and it continuously hopes to inspire more young people to find innovative solutions and to challenge status quo through the organizations they belong,” De Vera said.

He cited the University of Luzon’s Enactus youth group of Pangasinan that won in the national level in 2009 and 2012 showcasing Project Save Max.

Entries for the search are judged based on a recent project or program that had an impact on the community and reflects that efforts of the youth sector towards nation building.

Project entries may fall into following categories: culture and heritage; education and technology; environment, disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation; health well-being and human development; and livelihood and entrepreneurship.

Last year, TAYO received the highest number of entries totaling 443. (PIA –Pangasinan/VHS)
