LINGAYEN – Various agencies and offices in Pangasinan expressed support for the formation of the National Tokhang Advocacy Coalition (NTAC), a sub-component of the National Coalition of Sectoral Force Multipliers and Advocacy Support Groups, to help sustain peace and order efforts of the government, particularly the war against drugs, for a drug-free Pangasinan.

P/Chief Inspector Norman Florentino, Pangasinan Police Provincial Office’s (PPPO) police community relations chief, welcomed the expression of support during a coordinating conference held on August 29 and said it will boosts the police’s law enforcement and community relations programs, particularly the anti-illegal drugs campaign program.

NTAC, led by local government executives, will take the lead in formulating and implementing programs that will strengthen and sustain the gains and successes of PNP’s anti-criminality programs and community empowerment activities.

PPPO sought NTAC’s active involvement to ensure transparency and efficiency of law enforcement agencies in the conduct of interdictions against suspected drug pushers and drug dens.

Meanwhile, PPPO reported that out of the 1,364 barangays in Pangasinan, 1,201 have been cleared of illegal drugs while 70 remain uncleared.

It also reported that of the 22,078 identified drug personalities in the province, 20,263 have surrendered.

Meanwhile, Provincial Administrator Nimrod Camba said Governor Amado I. Espino, III will soon lead the ribbon-cutting of the Provincial Drug Rehabilitation Center in Burgos built on a 2-hectare lot donated to the province by the family of the late former Mayor Demetrio Cabiles.

Once, operational, the Burgos rehabilitation facility will treat moderately-affected drug users. 

Aside from NTAC, the Pangasinan PNP also seeks support from National Coalition of Information Technology (IT) Advocates for Change (NCITAC); Anti Crisis and Community Emergency Response Team (ACCERT); Association of Chiefs of Police of the Philippines Inc. – Accredited NGOs (ACPPIAN); Foreign National Keeper Network (FNKN) to support PNP’s advocacies to make the province cyber safe, disaster prepared, and tourist safe.  and to establish police and community partnership (ACPPIAN).  (PIO/MGNO)
