Youth groups urged to join TAYO Awards
THE Ten Accomplished Youth Organization (TAYO) Foundation in collaboration with the National Youth Commission, encouraged the province’s youth actively participate in the search for TAYO awardee in 2018.
James de Vera, TAYO Awards Foundation executive director, said a promotional activity was recently held at the University of Luzon to announce the national search to culminate on February 2018.
The project encourages the youth to participate in doing their share in changing their respective communities through programs or projects and thereby be encouraged to engage in solving problem and challenges in their respective communities.
The objective is to demonstrate that youth of today are responsible and negate impressions as the pasaway generation, selfie generation, dota generation or drug addict generation, de Vera said.
In 2002, the Alaminos Cycling Club was selected as one of the 10 Accomplished Organizations while the University of Luzon students for free enterprises in Aquaphonics technology were adjudged as one of the TAYO awardees in 2012.
De Vera noted, however, that no youth organization in Pangasinan joined the search in the last five years in spite of the many potentials of young Pangasinenses.
TAYO will award P50,000 cash to the selected youth organizations in 2018. (Nora Dominguez)
